Sigh....

We must all update the computer at some time and this is the weekend for a new update for us.  

 We bought the computer on a Black Friday discount last November, lol, and it's been waiting for us to get around to doing the ugly process of uploading.  Which is now proceeding at something of a snail's pace.

I've already discovered that my bookmarks did not make the jump to to the new device.  Don't ask.

We've also had to upgrade the office subscription.  Gee, back in the day, it lived on the computer.   Then we had a home version that we all had access to. Now the rate is higher if more than account on the home computer is going to be using any office tools. (deliberately leaving off the name of the window company responsible).  Mayhap we should have just maintained one user and logged in/out of the browsers and such whenever we changed users.  Or maybe it's worth $50 a year to NOT have to do that...

Anyway, at least I have the work laptop that has a FEW of my most-used links identified, lol.

So that means I will be tracking down and resaving as many of my favorite hangouts as possible.  

And having to re-log in.  And re-verify.  And...and...

So, no regularly scheduled blog post today.  Hopefully I'll be back to normal next week.

Just an opportunity to exercise the fruit of patience....and a bit of kindness and forgiveness too, lol.

In view of the devastation others are facing, a few lost bookmarks is a ridiculous petty thing to complain about.

...go the lights on the new modem.  Which seems to be working somewhat, as I now have internet access.  However, pages are loading very slowly, photos  take forEVER and I often get a 'server not found' error that goes away when I click 'try again'.

So we are running with a limp.  Hopefully My Sweet Baboo can get some things corrected before he disappears for a couple of days on a primitive camping trip...or I may be communicating in a primitive manner.

Anyone good at reading smoke signals??? ;-)

Off the line...

Just dropping in for a status update; while scrolling through my feed burner Monday evening, catching up on the weekend blog posts, my desktop suddenly went berserk.  We'd been hit with an exceedingly nasty cyber virus of some sort (I didn't click ANYTHING!).  We've spent the week trying to get everything cleaned up and back to normal, but we're not there yet.  We have been doing a massive back up, with plans to wipe the hard drive and reset everything.

So I'm not sure when I'll get back to regular posting...I'd been doing so well, too. 

But this too shall pass... ;-)

I hate it when that happens...

Earlier today, I was musing over something that was just kind of a bee in my bonnet; something that was bugging me about myself.

And I thought, 'I should just write a blog post about that.'  I didn't want to, but I felt something in me agree...yes, that should be a blog post.

Only now, after spending about 4 hours doing data entry so I've got work ready for my new volunteer trainee tomorrow, I can. NOT. remember. it.

Not even a hint of a clue of what it was seems to be hanging around in my brain.  It's GONE.

Now, it may come back...and I may be mulling over the same thing some day in the future and suddenly have the revelation of 'THAT'S IT!!'

You can bet when I do I'm gonna grab the nearest writing implement and scrap of paper and write it down.

Potential blog posts, no matter how much I would have to grit my teeth to put it out there, are too valuable to let slip away.

I think I need some sleep...

So...more rest...

I really thought I'd be better by now. I mean, I really thought I WAS better. No real symptoms for three or four days; I thought I was ok to go to work for a little bit (so the little bit was 6 hours...it's not a terribly strenuous job...).

But I woke up this morning to a fresh new sore throat/earache combo and as the day progressed I got more and more puny feeling.

Guess it wasn't gone.

So, I'm finding subs and making alternate plans yet again.
