Our church is a site for Master's Commission. I've talked quite a bit about it on the sewing blog; not just because I've been involved in sewing bunches of costumes for them but also because my two oldest kids have been in the program. Oldest Offspring, DD#1, finished all three years of the program last spring. Second Offspring, DS #1, is finishing the second year even as I type. This weekend is the last for this year; we will have two services at church to close the year. Tonight's service will be their 'showcase'...they'll present what they used in ministry at various types of places this year. They'll do skits, dances, human videos, testimonies, etc. Tomorrow night will be the graduation/commissioning service.
This is the 4th year for the program at our church. For each of first two years graduation was only one service...but it ran so long that the decision was made to split it into two services last year. Both were well attended and I don't think either of them was any shorter than the one service the previous year! But it's ok. To be honest, I don't remember noticing how late it was until it was over.
So, for anyone who's close enough, if you're free tonight and/or tomorrow night, it's worth the drive (it starts at 6:30 tonight and 6 tomorrow night). Be ready to stay late, expect to be touched...and bring Kleenex. You have been warned. ;)
